We are a local non-profit chapter of AWIS committed to supporting the advancement of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in the Greater Baltimore area. We provide opportunities to participate in mentoring, career development, and leadership activities throughout Baltimore. AWIS, the national advocacy organization established in 1971, proudly champions the interests of women in STEM across all disciplines and employment sectors.

  • 2020-06-05: B'more Women in STEM vs. COVID-19 We are beyond excited to announce our next event: “B’more Women in STEM vs. COVID-19”, a virtual panel featuring the women in STEM behind important #COVID19 research currently ongoing in Baltimore. Come hear #womenscientists of different #STEM disciplines (epidemiology, microbiology, chemistry, computer science) discuss their work, which includes making a smartphone app that tracks COVID-19 hotspots, analyzing data on COVID-19 prejudice against Chinese-Americans, and searching for potential vaccines and therapeutics against COVID-19.   • 2019-10-25: Maryland STEM Festival On October 25, AWIS Baltimore had booth at the Maryland STEM Festival as part of their MS Girl STEM Empowerment Program. AWIS members talked to young women at Deer Park Middle Magnet School about our different careers in STEM and all the opportunities STEM has to offer.
