Association for Women in Science: Greater Baltimore Chapter

We are a local non-profit chapter of AWIS committed to supporting the advancement of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in the Greater Baltimore area. We provide opportunities to participate in mentoring, career development, and leadership activities throughout Baltimore. AWIS, the national advocacy organization established in 1971, proudly champions the interests of women in STEM across all disciplines and employment sectors.

virtual event - BOOK CLUB WITH BUGSS!

Join AWIS Baltimore and the Baltimore Underground Science Space (BUGSS) for a joint book club!

We will virtually meet to discuss sexism in science and society as we read the book Inferior: How Science Got Women Wrong and the New Research That's Rewriting the Story. This 2017 book by science journalist Angela Saini discusses the effect of sexism on scientific research, and how that sexism influences social beliefs.
