Welcome to the AWIS Greater Baltimore Chapter!

The Association for Women in Science (AWIS), founded in 1971, is the leading organization that advocates on behalf of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to achieve business growth, social change, and innovation. We are dedicated to driving excellence in STEM by achieving equity and full participation of women in all disciplines and across all employment sectors. For individuals seeking equity for women in STEM fields, AWIS provides career development, networking, mentorship and leadership opportunities.

Founded in 2009, the AWIS Greater Baltimore Chapter is one of over 30 local AWIS chapters that hosts career development, networking, and social activities for women in STEM as well as STEM outreach events for our local community. 

The purpose of the AWIS Baltimore Chapter is to:

• Support women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in Baltimore City and the surrounding area by providing opportunities to participate in professional networking, outreach, and leadership activities. 

• Raise public awareness of the scientific and technological skills and contributions of women by recognizing the local achievements of women in science.

• Cooperate with national, state, and local objectives that share common adjectives with AWIS Baltimore.

• Provide networking, outreach, and leadership opportunities for women in STEM at all levels of career and education.
