2020-01-19: Black History Month Events

We’re excited to announce two events in February in honor of #blackhistorymonth. Be sure to register on the Eventbrite pages (on our FB & Twitter pages) and share with your friends!1) Feb 19: 👩🏾‍🚀🚀A meetup and lecture by the incredible Dr. Mae Jemison! Dr. Jemison is the first black woman to travel in space. Trained as an engineer, dancer, AND medical doctor, Dr. Jamison is a member U.S. National Academy of Medicine, Fortune 500 companies boards, and the National Women’s Hall of Fame. We will meetup at @cafefili at 5:30 to meet old friends and make new ones, then walk to Enoch Pratt Library at 6:30 to attend Dr. Jemison’s lecture.

2) Feb 29: 📚📖Our first book club of the year! Our members voted to read “Superior: The Return of Race Science” by Angela Saini. Superior discusses the persistent thread of belief in biological racial differences in the world of science and was on several “Best of 2019” lists, including Best Science Books of the Year by NPR. Join us at @Redemmas from 2:30-3:30 to discuss this highly relevant and important book.
